5 Money Savings Tips for your Wedding

Your wedding day is just around the corner, and you're looking to save on the big event. No need to panic, there are many ways in which you can save big without compromising the quality of the event.

 

Here are five ways to save money when planning your wedding: 

  1. Manage your Guest List - Each guest can cost between $15 to $150 depending on the type of wedding and the price of the meals. For example, an intimate wedding, can cost less and on the lower side of $15-$30. While a larger more traditional wedding at a hall with catering minimums can add up. If your hall does not have chairs and you have to rent, it should not be more than $3 dollars each. This might not sound like a lot, but it can add up with a large guest list. By reducing your guest list by 50 to adjust for no shows for example, you can save over $1000!

  2. Save Cash on Printed Invitations - One component of wedding event planning that typically end up costing lots of money is printed products. Fortunately, this is an aspect that you can actually save money on if you plan ahead. Rather than sending save the date cards, you could make use a website or app to notify your guests. By doing this you will have extra cash to invest in the invitations themselves. 

  3. Afternoon Wedding Celebration - One way in which you can save a large amount of cash on your wedding is to celebrate it in the morning or afternoon. Evening wedding celebrations are usually more expensive.  Reception spaces cost more for evening events, and even catering vendors will charge a premium for night and after hours receptions. 

  4. Weekday Wedding Celebration - Saturdays are mostly preferred for weddings but a weekday ceremony will cost you less. To save money on your event, pick a weekday for your wedding celebration. Many event vendors such as your celebrant or wedding officiant will also have lower rates on weekdays versus the weekend. Choose your wedding date wisely! 

  5. Be creative - What most people fail to realize is that it costs less to create a custom dress than to purchase it from a wedding dress store. The best thing to do is to find a trusted seamstress and go shopping with them! Try on one or two wedding gowns so they can see the best fit for your body type and the styles that you like. This will assist them in designing the dress that is most suited for you.

One last tip: As an Atlanta Wedding Officiant, I highly recommend choosing a wedding date between November and April to avoid peak period prices and save even more.
